Mould, is big business! Mould is a bacerial fungal growrh that can cause severe health issues and even in certain circumstances death! After 2+ years of planning, "Awaabs law" comes into force in October 2025
Awaabs law comes into force in October 2025
This new law comes into force following the death of
2-year-old Awaab Ishak, who died tragically in 2020 as a result of a severe respiratory condition due to prolonged exposure to mould in his home.
Which is your 'go to' mould cleaner?
SODIUM hypochlorite?
More Sodium Hypochlorite?
Or Caustic Soda instead?
You need to know what's behind the labels!
- Sodium Hypochlorite is the active ingredient in both Standard bleach and Dettol Mould and Midew remover - in bleach there is approximately 8-10% of sodium hypochlorite whilst the other 92-90% is just plain water! This means that the active ingredient is left sitting on the surface as the water is absorbed into the surface and feeding, plus strenghthening the mould spores, so you are actually promoting the mould, not killing it!
- Sodium Hydroxide is the active ingredint In HG MOULD SPRAY - Sodium Hydroxide is more commonly known as Caustic Soda which is used in paint stripping and drain unblocking.
So which one are you going to use now?
- The Mould feeding solution, or
- The paint stripper, for you & your kids, even your pets to burn their lungs with from the spray that's pumped into your indoor air?
A final recap:
- HYPOCHLORITE is an inorganic compound while mould isn't ( so bleach is no good, the hypochlorite sits on the surface and does nothing to kill the spore roots as it does not penetrate the substrate - the 92-90% water content in bleach however will penetrate the substrate and feed the spore roots resulting in the mould spreading even further and returning again and again.
Nature to the rescue: White vinegar has a natural 8% content of Acetic acid, and is an organic compound created by mother nature so therefore matches mould in the ring. The Acetic acid will penetrate the substrate and kill the spore roots which mother nature also created.
Mould is an organic compound, hypochlorite is an inorganic compound = no match.
Vinegar is an organic compound = match for mould, and the natural Acetic acid content in vinegar kills mould ... done!
White vinegar is better than malt vinegar as it is a more purified vinegar made by fermenting acetic acid in water.
Plus malt vinegar tends to stain, and tastes better on chips!
