Organ donation: now we are now told to "opt out" – ever thought why?
Old buildings isnt all that exists. In an era where personal autonomy, and freedom is highly valued, the shift 6 years ago now, to an "opt-out" system for organ donation, does raise some important questions. This page aims to provoke thought and discussion around this significant change, encouraging everyone to consider the implications of "opting out".

Life beyond death: do our organs live on?
The concept of organ donation is profoundly impactful, offering life to others, along with suffering many losses and having saved many lives myself whilst putting my own life at risk, I do support that concept.
However, I think the move to an "opt-out" system does introduce some new dimensions, aswell as questions:
Are our organs now suddenly presumed to live on after we die, ready for donation, unless we explicitly state otherwise?
This shift not only challenges our traditional notions of consent and ownership over our bodies, but it also impacts on 'our choice'.
We must already ask, often at high financial costs, permission to carry out certain works to our home, now we have to effectively have permission over what we choose to do with our own, personal bodyparts
Maybe think about what this means for your own inaliable individual rights and societal expectations.

The shift to opt-out: a deeper look
This "opt-out" system in organ donation was introduced on the 20th May 2020, and represents a significant policy change, and whilst we're told that it's been designed to increase the number of available organs for transplant, has it really?
Why has this change occurred, and what are its broader implications for society?
I believe in informed, truthful decisions and encourage you to explore these questions fully.

Your thoughts matter: engage and reflect
This page is designed for everyone – for those who have considered organ donation, and especially for those who haven't.
My primary goal is to encourage you to think critically about the "opt-out" system; What does it mean for you, your family, and your beliefs? I'm not telling anyone what to do, but I do encourage you to consider these important aspects, and form your own informed opinions.
Please do take a moment to truly reflect on this profound subject ..... think.
