Accidents

In 1999, the famous band called 'the Eagles' released a track they had written, which was slightly different to their generally known style of music. When I first heard this track, it seemed was quite "rocky" compared to, for example, 'Hotel California' and it wasn't instantly recognisable as a "typical" Eagles track to me. However it was, and still is, an Eagles track, consisting of the same type of lyrics penned by the Eagles, as usual, that reflected life at that time, as the band saw it.

Now, far from being a music specialist, I'll form the link: today's world appears to be littered with solicitors stating you can claim "compensation" basically for  anything nowadays, but can you really? And why?

Back to the song "get over it"; one particular line stuck in my head for all these years, sung by Don Henley, states:

"you say you haven't been the same since you had your little crash, but you might feel better when they give you some cash"

So almost 3 decades ago, the USA was encountering the 'compensation culture' that we see constantly here in the UK today. But should it?

Certainly the younger generations these days, who appear to be obsessed by money, money, money most likely think it is, but thinking clearly should say otherwise.

I've copied the following from the online Cambridge English Dictionary, and left the links to prove that:

"something bad that happens that is not expected or intended and that often damages something or injures someone:

Josh had an accident and spilled water all over his work.

The lorry had been involved in an accident.

in an accident The sign was damaged.

He heard that a friend of his had been killed in a car accident (= when one car hits another)

She was injured in a road accident (= when one vehicle hits another)."

So even the definitions today are given to promote this compensation culture, but what about humanity?

For each of the examples given by the online Cambridge English  Dictionary, personally I see an event occurring which has been caused, created, and carried out by one human being not paying attention to their own actions, which causes harm, distress, damage and/or loss to another, or others - that's really not magic!

Just to make it even easier, I've posted a video below, (not one of my videos) with the Lyrics clearly shown. So look, listen, and have a good think.
