The more intelligent you become ....
.... The more lonely you can feel.
You may think that intelligence would connect you to more people, but it doesn't, instead it separates you:
You will walk into a room and find everyone is laughing at something that you don't find funny, or talking about things that seem trivial to you, so you'll smile, you'll laugh, and you'll play along, when inside you're somewhere else entirely, thinking about the real meaning below the conversation you can hear; the patterns that no-one else sees, the questions that no-one else asks, and suddenly you'll realise that you're alone, in every way that truly matters. This is the true cost of intelligence and the isolation for 'seeing things differently that no-one teaches you.
More intelligence isn't just about knowing more, it's about perceiving more, connecting the dots that others don't even see, you'll follow thoughts to their logical conclusions, even if those conclusions are uncomfortable.
And here's the problem that means most people don't want to go there, they don't want to question the game, let alone play the game, They only want to try the mask on but not wear it, they want to fit in
But you'll see things differently, you'll see the truths, and when you point them out, people will become uncomfortable, not because you're wrong but because you're right, and most people don't like that because they see that as a threat to them, and will often distance themselves, not maliciously, not deliberately, but they will.
They'll stop inviting you to things, they'll deliberately keep their conversations shallow around you because they'll see you as too intense, too serious. So you'll learn to keep your thoughts to yourself, to keep your mouth shut, to speak in 'half truths' and even laugh at unfunny jokes for a while, however the authentic explaination is being truly yourself means being truly alone, and most intelligent people will find themselves in this position, surrounded by others yet isolated, this is the truth of intelligence, and it's not a gift you can just put down, because it's the lens you permanently see through, you can't rewind time, but most people are still living in the 'simple answers' world with their comfortable illusions, doing what they're told to do, just because that's easier and safer for them.
But are you really the one who's wrong?
You're awake in a sleeping world, so it's not you who's wrong at all, and we're not telling what to do, but which is for you?
Be inquisitive and not assumptive.
