Fact versus fiction: separating truth from tales

In the world of period and listed buildings, it can be hard to tell what is true and what is made up. This page cuts through the noise to bring you the facts, dispelling common myths and misunderstandings. We believe in knowledge and proven experience, and that's exactly what you'll find here.

We grew through knowledge and proven experience

Everything we share on this site is built on a solid foundation of knowledge and  proven experiences from an enormous amount of various countries and different cultures.

We understand the unique challenges and intricacies of both traditional and new buildings at low, medium, and 'high rise' structures, plus how to get them back down safely when/if needed.

Our goal is to provide clear, reliable information that you can trust, helping you make informed decisions about conservation and restoration, or you can always trust the armchair experts.

Who benefits from the truth?

Everyone.

This page is for everyone who cares about Architectural heritage. Whether you are a period homeowner, a conservation professional, a student, or simply curious about historic buildings, our content is designed to inform, educate, and help. We aim to clarify common misconceptions that can often lead to costly mistakes or irreversible damage to precious structures.

Debunking the ABCs of building myths

One prevalent misconception in heritage conservation is often referred to as what we call: "The ABC". This is a method used, and borrowed by us, in many interviews conducted by Police and Intelligence authorities:

A = Assume nothing,

B = Believe no-one

C = Challenge everything

If you reverse our own created saying you'll get:

"The (A) Assumptive mind fails, where the (C) Inquisitive mind prevails"

Funny that.
