Banisters: stop helping to erase history!

Do you trust A I? I don't. Frankly I see the initials standing for Absolute Idiots! I'm not being rude at all, so maybe you should read this and realise some truths.

I have a gripe, because I see the the word "banister" being noticeably used completely incorrectly more and more these days.

Schoolteachers are emailing homework to students, and students are emailng their completed work back to their teacher for marking.

So what exactly are children/grandchildren being indoctrinated into?

I won't even comment on pronouns, on little boys being taught that they can be little girls if they want, or the 6 striped flg being hung on primary school classroom walls, because also learning about the phsycology necessary for real teaching, means me remaining calm is far better!

After a long career in education, I think this is very worrying, and just from a small amount of  research today, I discovered that the Internet is filling up with some incredibly incorrect information. So with today's 'trend' of schoolkids being used more and more by I T, frankly, the future's not looking very bright at all to me.

So as a simple start I typed in the words 'Define banister' into the "Bing" search bar, and the online Cambridge dictionary, one of the two world renowned University towns in the UK, alongside Oxford, popped up.

I took the below screenshot:

"Learn new words" is quite hilarious on Cambridges definition!

Now compare the definition above, again, given by the world renowned "Cambridge" Dictionary, and play 'spot the difference' with the pic below, which is what I was taught as a student myself decades ago, and later taught, as a Lecturer who was promoted to Head of the entire Department, and a licentiate of City and Guilds London Institute, ending up as a  Professor (so I wasn't a bad Lecturer really)

Now, hopefully you might be wondering now about how much you can really believe online these days.

I know for an absolute, historical fact, having worked and been good friends with many, many traditional, 'old school' Carpentry & Joinery Craftsmen, long before one craft became two individual 'trades' (££££ enrolment fees) that 'Balusters & Handrail' is the correct historical terminology, I also know that a Neurologist named 'Roger Banister' was famed for running the 1st ever recorded 1 minute mile in under 4 minutes in 1954, because I read lots of books as I grew up.

So now a human being; a highly educated and athletic human being, famed for his world record first achievement, is actually being replaced by a machine? 🙄

But what's more concerning is that people today just believe the complete and utter lies that they read on a machine these days!

Look at ths page linked below, which we created last year, it's free of charge to people who genuinely want to learn, (the word "genuinely" opens another can of worms frankly, but I'm leaving that can well alone.)

So just have a look, and learn a lot more useful (and correct) terminology about traditional buildings - HERE

But do think about what's really going on.
